The Los Angeles facility is the only Restitution Center in the State of California. Inmates work at regular jobs in Los Angeles, and return at night. Inmates pay one-third of their salary to satisfy victim restitution; another third goes to the State, and one third is kept by the inmate. The Center's capacity is about one hundred inmates. It can accept inmates from any county in the state. Serving time at the Restitution Center is a privilege. Completing a sentence in major institutions does not offer the opportunities that are available at the Restitution Center.
