Antonio
R. Sarabia II is a general international business lawyer concentrating
on trademark and copyright law, with an emphasis on licensing.
He has an international and domestic business practice.
Mr.
Sarabia is "av" rated - the top rating by the preeminent lawyer
rating service in the world - Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr.
Sarabia was General Counsel of Guess?, Inc. for eight years.
His responsibilities included direction of the copyright and
trademark protection and anti-counterfeiting programs for the
Company.
In
his international business practice, Mr. Sarabia represents
companies, both in the United States and abroad, which seek
licensees and distributors. He has been responsible for the
establishment of a network of licensees and distributors throughout
Southeast Asia and Latin America, and has served as Vice President
of Licensing for a large apparel Company.
Mr.
Sarabia has been engaged as an expert on trademark and licensing
matters. The Vatican Library retained him as an expert on licensing.
Mr.
Sarabia is intimately familiar with the vast array of legal
problems which apparel and fashion companies may face. He has
worked closely with prominent designers, and understands the
importance of protecting the products of creative minds.
Mr.
Sarabia has extensive experience with business contracts and
transactions. He has handled many construction projects, and
other agreements such as computer software and hardware purchases.
For his international clients he has created a network of foreign
manufacturing contracts and agency agreements to protect their
interests.
Mr. Sarabia has developed very cost effective anti-counterfeiting
programs for his clients using an innovative combination of
civil suits, criminal proceedings and direct approaches. He
has worked closely with the FBI, U.S. Customs, United States
Attorneys, local police, sheriffs and District Attorneys in
criminal counterfeiting cases throughout the United States.
He has planned and coordinated federal trademark infringement
cases throughout the country.
Mr.
Sarabia has been particularly active in the recovery of criminal
restitution paid by defendants to the victim trademark owner.
He is the author of a chapter on victim restitution in the leading
treatise California Criminal Law Procedure and Practice.
He
has created international intellectual property protection programs
which include an international web of investigators and local
counsel to stop infringements in Asia, Latin America and Europe.
Mr.
Sarabia is a founding member of the Western Anti-counterfeiting
Coalition, an organization which consists of trademark and copyright
owners working together to stop infringements. He participated
in the drafting of, and lobbying for, changes to the California
Penal Code to provide greater protection to trademark owners.
